Hoolie is by Criminal Type, winner of over 2 Million dollars and
1990 Horse of the Year. Hoolie is out of Sunshine Always, winner of
$272,387 Graded Stakes winner and Stakes producing mare.
Hoolie was a remarkable racehorse. His victory in
the Grade II Dwyer Stakes was his fourth in a string of consecutive
victories at Aqueduct and Belmont Park.
Leading up to the Dwyer, Hoolie broke his maiden by seven lengths
at Aqueduct in late December of his two year old season, then launched
a run of three more wins with a 5 1/2 length victory in a 6 1/2 furlong
allowance race at Belmont Park with a 106 Beyer rating.
In his next start at Belmont, Hoolie stretched out to a mile and whipped another allowance field by four lengths.
Hoolie then made it four in a row, moving out to a mile and a sixteenth
to capture the Grade II Dwyer Stakes by a length and a quarter. But in
the Jim Dandy Stakes, four weeks later at Saratoga, Hoolie suffered a
slight bow and his highly promising career was halted. Hoolie was
retired with four wins, a second and a third in eight starts with
earnings of almost $200,000.
